Longtime Waverly Hall City Council member and former Mayor Pro Tem Patricia “Pat” Lowman died July 15 at age 86.
Lowman spent 40 years as a member of the Waverly Hall City Council, holding the Public Safety seat. During her tenure on the Council, Lowman was instrumental in bringing about the city’s new Fire Administration building.

Commissioners Approve Lease Agreement for Police Vehicles
The Talbot County Board of Commissioners approved a lease agreement for a fleet of new vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office during its regular meeting held on Monday, July 6.
The board approved moving forward with a five-year lease financing package totaling approximately $304,244, with annual payments of $72,718.33 to provide the Sheriff’s Office with new vehicles.

The Greenville City Council expressed its frustration over delays with an ongoing city audit during their July 7 meeting.
Council members cited missing documentation and communication issues with the city’s current accounting consultant. State law requires annual audits to be finalized within 180 days of the close of a fiscal year, yet the fiscal audits for 2024 and 2025 have not yet been completed. Officials emphasized the need for timely financial records and greater accountability as the city works to bring its audits up to date.
