Greenville Council Expresses Frustration Over Audit

The Greenville City Council expressed its frustration over delays with an ongoing city audit during their July 7 meeting. Council members cited missing documentation and communication issues with the city’s current accounting consultant. State law requires annual audits to be finalized within 180 days of the close of a fiscal year, yet the fiscal audits for 2024 and 2025 have not yet been completed. Officials emphasized the need for timely financial records and greater accountability as the city works to bring its audits up to date.

Woodbury Council Member: “They Are So Racist”

The Woodbury City Council met on April 27 and during the meeting, Council Member Carolyn Ellison called her three fellow members “racist.” During a public comment session, Ellison said: “I just want to address the other for a minute to give y’ll an update on what’s going on with the mayor and with the city council. And as I have addressed them, and I just want y’all to know and I have also talked with the city council and the mayor several times, and this is my way of basically pleading with them for us to get along. We have to stand.

Sports Complex Named in Honor Of Retired Superintendent Catrett

On Tuesday, Apr. 21 the Talbot Board of Education, Central Elementary-High School administration and staff dedicated the sports complex located on Tyler Street to former superintendent Dr. Jack Catrett. Their sports complex was named the Dr. James “Jack’ Franklin Catrett, III Complex to honor Dr. Jack Catrett, for his 13 years of hard work and dedication to the students and community of Talbot County and its school district.
