Longtime Waverly Hall City Council member and former Mayor Pro Tem Patricia “Pat” Lowman died July 15 at age 86. Lowman spent 40 years as a member of the Waverly Hall City Council, holding the Public Safety seat. During her tenure on the Council, Lowman was instrumental in bringing about the city’s new Fire Administration building.
As silly as this may sound, I have tried to live my entire life according to the following (admittedly odd) belief: One is allotted only a certain number of times in one’s life to get angry. After one uses them up, one then dies. That’s a big reason why I do not get very angry very often.

I won’t lie - there are things that come up in life that I really don’t want to do. In many cases, they just don’t get done. In other cases, I pay people for doing it. The heights of summer! (Or the depths, depending on how you look at it.) Some people decry the heat and humidity, while others seem to revel in it. I’m not too sure about those revelers, though. Personally, when the heat and humidity get too much, I contemplate jumping into a swimming pool. Only at the shallow end, though, since I can’t swim. If I go into the deep part, I sink. Or should there be a “t” in that word somewhere? Anyway, on with the trivia!
During an appearance on The Tonight Show back in the 1980s, the late comedian George Gobel asked a very poignant question: “Did you ever feel as if the world was a tuxedo and you were a pair of brown shoes?” Lonesome George hit the nail on the head. I’ve felt that way most of my life.
