The Star-Mercury-Vindicator unveils website, launches newsletter
The Star-Mercury-Vindicator launched a new website and announced a brand-new digital newsletter Wednesday, delivering dedicated local reporting to a digital audience.
The Star-Mercury-Vindicator launched a new website and announced a brand-new digital newsletter Thursday, delivering dedicated local reporting to a digital audience.
The website will feature work from The Star-Mercury-Vindicator newsroom, as well as online-exclusive content and a weekly newsletter to subscribers. Sign up to become a subscriber here, and sign up for the free newsletter here.
The new website is integral to the ongoing transformation efforts from the Georgia Trust for Local News, which acquired The Star-Mercury-Vindicator and 18 other newspapers across Middle, South and West Georgia last year. The website will offer new advertising opportunities in Meriwether County and across the Georgia Trust that can reach up to a million Georgians.
“It’s very exciting to expand the reach of our newspaper,” GTLN executive director DuBose Porter said. “We will deliver news in whatever way our readers prefer: online, via newsletters and or in print. This is a giant leap forward for The Star-Mercury-Vindicator.”
The website was built by Indiegraf, a company that specializes in websites and digital products for independent, local news companies. The Star-Mercury-Vindicator will continue to publish a weekly print edition.
“The Star-Mercury-Vindicator does a fantastic job of keeping Meriwether County residents informed, entertained and inspired with our local news and sports coverage,” GTLN Executive Editor Caleb Slinkard said. “It’s high time our excellent community journalism is available online.”
The Georgia Trust for Local News is part of the National Trust for Local News, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community news by working with communities to make the at-scale, transformational changes needed for established community news organizations to thrive and remain deeply grounded in their communities.
