Sharita Trice, chairperson of the Talbot County Board of Elections and Registration has announced a special election for the City of Talbotton.
According to Trice, a special election will be held in conjunction with the General Election scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3 to fill the unexpired term of Andrew Hall. Hall is a member of the Talbotton City Council and is seeking a commissioner’s seat in the November election.
Hall will oppose Incumbent Commissioner Walter Wilson, Jr. for the District 1 seat.
Advanced voting for the Talbotton election will begin on Oct. 13.
Qualifying for the special election will be held at the Talbot County Board of Elections and Registration Office located at 1761 Geneva Highway in Talbotton beginning Monday, July 13 and ending on Wednesday, July 15. The qualifying fee for the post is $75. The qualifying fee must be paid by check or money order. No cash will be accepted for the fee.
To qualify a candidate must be a registered voter of Talbot County, be a resident of the City of Talbotton for at least one year prior to the election and must not have been convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude.
