Bus Driver’s Legacy of Kindness Continues to Feed Local Students
Family members of Teddy "Ray" Phillips join representatives from School Lunch Angels and New Mountain Hill Elementary Principal Mrs. Burnett during a check presentation honoring Ray's memory. Donations made in his honor eliminated the school's current lunch debt balance and will continue supporting students at New Mountain Hill Elementary in the future. His son Michael Phillips, great-granddaughter Ava Brookshire, wife- Mary Phillips, Son- Ricky Phillips, grand-daughter Maegan Phillips and great-granddaughter Adelynn Johnson.

Guilty Verdict in Bryant Murder
The three people accused of killing Manchester High star athlete Daryus Bryant received the verdict in the case late in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 26 in Muscogee County Superior Court. Three Talbot County residents were convicted in the case and are expected to be sentenced on Tuesday, June 23.

In October of 2016, I began this column. The story of how it came to be has been relayed here numerous times; I won’t go into it again. That was 500 weeks ago. This week, you are reading the 500th column in this series. It’s a milestone I never once thought would happen. I had actually assumed you’d all get tired of this stuff and stop reading it; far from it, you’ve asked for more. Now, 500 columns in, I’m ready to get the next 500 underway. I have to thank all the editors who run this silly stuff I write, sharing it with all of you; and I thank you, the readers, who spend a part of your day with this nonsense, and make me feel good about doing it. Area College Baseball Teams in the Spotlight
The University of Georgia, Georgia Tech and Auburn University baseball teams are bringing the attention of college baseball fans to our wonderful state and area. In case you haven’t heard, the Yellow Jackets won the ACC title this year and the Bulldogs won the SEC title.
