Only Woods Varied in Talbot
Votes cast in Talbot County in the General Primary Runoff Election pretty much matched the state, except in the race of State Superintendent Richard Woods. Woods won the nomination but lost in Talbot County.
Votes cast in Talbot County in the General Primary Runoff Election pretty much matched the state, except in the race of State Superintendent Richard Woods. Woods won the nomination but lost in Talbot County.
In the race for Governor, Rick Jackson defeated his opponent Burt Jones in the Primary. In Talbot Jackson received 260 voters and Jones received 184. Jackson will now face Democratic candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Atlanta mayor in November.
In the race for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor, Greg Dolezal defeated John F. Kennedy. The race was close and it was also close in Talbot with Dolezal receiving 222 votes and Kennedy receiving 213. Dolezal will face Democrat Josh McLaurin in November.
McLaurin won the Democratic nomination by defeated Nabilah Parkes, and again even though it was close, McLaurin received 177 votes in Talbot and Parkes received 175.
In the US Senate Republican nomination race for US Senate, Mike Collins defeated Derek Dooley and Talbot voters supported Collins heavily casting 329 votes in his favor and Dooley received 111. Collins will now face Democrat Incumbent Jon Ossoff in November.
Republican Tim Fleming won the nomination to seek the Secretary of State race in November by defeating Vernon Jones. Fleming received 247 votes in Talbot County and Jones received 164. Fleming will oppose Democrat Penny Brown Reynolds in November.
Reynolds was the state choice for the Democrat nomination easily defeating Dana Barrett. Reynolds received 270 votes in Talbot County and Barrett received 85.
In the runoff for the Democratic nomination for the Commissioner of Insurance, Keisha Sean Waites eaned the right to face Republican Incumbent John King in November by defeating DeAndre Mathis. Talbot voters cast 214 votes for Waites and 143 for Mathis.
Republican State School Superintendent Richard Woods will face Democratic nomination Dr Lydia Powell in November after defeating his challenger Fred “Bubba” Longgrear. Longgrear won Talbot County receiving 246 votes and Woods received 175.
Democrat Nikki Porcher will face Republican Incumbent Barbara Rivera Holmes in November in the race for Commissioner of Labor. Porcher defeated Michelle Michi Sanchez in the Runoff on Tuesday. Porcher won Talbot County as well receiving 222 votes and Sanchez received 28.
Republican Josh Tolbert will face Democrat Shelia Edwards in November in the race for Public Service Commissioner for District 5. Tolbert took Talbot County received 231 votes to Bobby Mehan’s 169 votes.
