Work on the Man O’ War Railroad Recreation Trail could resume this Fall.
Work on the Man O’ War Railroad Recreation Trail could resume this Fall.
During last week’s Harris County Commission meeting, County Manger Clark Harrell reported that $6 million has been earmarked from the Transportation Investment Act for continuing the trail.
The engineering process is underway with Harrell saying, “We’re about 80 percent complete with the engineering.” He added the bid process could take place this Fall.
“It will be a good project and a good tourist attraction for Harris County,” Harrell said.
Completed from the Harris-Meriwether county line in Pine Mountain to Mulberry Creek in the Cataula community, the trail has already proved a huge hit with those walking and running on it. It has also proved incredibly popular with bicyclists, drawing many from outside the area.
The Man O’ War trail has already become another tourist draw for the county and once completed could become even more of a draw.
