Meriwether County Schools is proud to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our schools and leaders who continue to provide exceptional opportunities for student success.
Unity Elementary School, led by Mr. Alston, was recognized as a Georgia’s Literacy Leader: Elevating Achievement Through Literacy, honoring the school’s outstanding commitment to helping students grow as confident readers and lifelong learners.
Greenville Middle School, led by Mr. Perry, received recognition as a Master of Mathematics: Elevating Achievement Through Mathematics, celebrating the school’s dedication to excellence in mathematics instruction and student achievement.
Manchester Middle School, led by Dr. Short, earned two prestigious recognitions:
Georgia’s Literacy Leader: Elevating Achievement Through Literacy &
Advancing Achievement School, in recognition of advancing student achievement and meeting the exit criteria for federal identification.
These honors reflect the dedication, collaboration, and hard work of our principals, teachers, staff, students, and families. Their commitment to academic excellence continues to make a lasting impact on the students of Meriwether County Schools.

Realignment of Mountain Hill Road Approved
By a unanimous vote last week, the Harris County Commissioners approved developing a plan for the realignment of Mountain Hill Road.
Commission Chair Susan Andrews explained the Georgia Department of Transportation has cited a need to realign 1000 feet of Mountain Hill Road just north of SR 315 at The Grove development. A roundabout is scheduled for construction in the area and that plan is scheduled to be ready in October.
Hogansville Council Extends Data Center Moratorium 30 More Days
The first bit of new business concerned the data center moratorium which expires on August 2nd. A moratorium extension was discussed, and after Councilman Jason Baswell proposed a thirty day extension from August 2nd, the draft was approved.
