A random act of kindness
It is a common theme in
today’s society to hear that: our generation will be the ultimate downfall,
manners do not exist, empathy is dead, etc. I would like to highlight a
positive experience that happened to me last week in Perry.
It was just before our company
Christmas party and I had to run into the Dollar Store to grab a gift bag for
my party present. Of course as usual there was somewhat of a line formed, I’d
say about five people waiting to check out. There was this elderly man in front
of me with a Vietnam veteran hat on; he had a bottle of grape juice a bag of
chips and some crackers.
The man continued to pick up
and put down the items, like he wasn’t sure if he had enough money to get the
things in his hands. I apparently wasn’t the only one who noticed his
struggles, because the lady in front of him, once it was her turn at the
register, told the elderly man she would purchase his items. You could see the
gratefulness in his face, he softly said “Merry Christmas, ma’am, thank you so
much”.
It was an awesome feeling to
experience what that lady did. It made me smile and really touched my heart.
Let us all be mindful of
others and do a random act of kindness anytime we can.
