Sheriff’s Office to Hold Fishing Rodeo for Senior Citizens May 30

Talbot County Sheriff Bobby Gates, Jr. and the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will sponsor a fishing event for senior citizens.
Sheriff Gates invites senior citizens to the 2026 Senior Citizen Fishing Rodeo that will be held at the facility formally known as the Youth Center (now Heritage Park) and is located at 170 Park Street in Talbotton, GA.
“We want to see who is the “REEL DEAL” to have bragging rights about their fishing skills,” Sheriff Gates aid.
“We are asking that participants bring his or her own tacklebox, folding chair, rod and reels, poles, sunhats, baits, nets, sunscreen and sunglasses to this fun filled, relaxing, exciting and fellowshipping morning of fishing.”
The event will be held on Saturday, May 30 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Heritage Park.
There will be prizes awarded to seniors for the heaviest fish caught, most fish caught and the oldest fisherman or fisherwoman.
The event is open to senior citizens age 55 and above.
Snacks will be provided as well.
