Perry’s weekend cold but uneventful
While the East Coast got blanketed with snow, ice, high winds and low temperatures, the weekend weather in Perry didn’t take the same route.
It was just cold, said Fire Chief Joel Gray.
“We were very, very fortunate in that we only had one tree down early Sunday morning,” Gray said Monday.
The tree was at the corner of Briarcliff Road and Springdale Avenue, he continued, and it took place around 7:30 a.m.
“There was also a power line down in that situation and we called in Georgia Power,” Gray said. “That’s all we had except for a few EMS calls and some traffic accidents without injuries.”
The weekend was pretty much the same at the police department, said Maj. Bill Phelps.
“There were no weather-related accidents over the weekend,” said Phelps.
However, there were three accidents but no injuries reported, he said. “All turned out well.”
