MHS Blue Devils Drop Two Games to Bowden

The Manchester High Blue Devils opened region play last week and drop two games to the Bowdon High Red Devils.
MHS at Bowdon
On Tuesday, Mar. 11 the Blue Devils traveled to Bowdon and were defeated by the Red Devils by a score of 10-0.
The Red Devils banged out 10 hits in the game while holding the Blue Devils to only two hits. Manchester committed two errors and the Red Devils did not have an error.
Sophomore Gavin Garrett pitched two innings for the Blue Devils and allowed nine runs (four earned) off seven hits, issued a walk and recorded a strikeout. Sophomore Jarrell Garrett tossed one and a third innings and allowed one run off one hit and issued one walk.
Sophomore Jayden Hodo and senior Christian Whitaker were each 1 for 2 at the plate for the Blue Devils.
Bowdon at Manchester
On Thursday, Mar. 13, the Blue Devils hosted the Red Devils and were defeated by a score of 13-1.
The Red Devil pitchers held the Blue Devils to only three hits while Bowdon’s hitters came through with 10 hits.
The Red Devils did not commit an error and the Blue Devils committed three.
Sophomore Gavin Garrett pitched two innings for Manchester and allowed one run off two hits, issued a walk and recorded three strikeout facing six batters in the game.
Hodo pitched three innings and allowed seven runs (three earned) off four hits, issued two walks and recorded two strikeouts while facing 18 batters in the game.
Senior Kaleb Gay pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed five runs (four earned) off four hits, issued two walks and recorded a strikeout and facing eight hitters in the game.
At the plate, Hodo was 2 for 2 with a double, had stolen base and scored a run and sophomore Qua Buckley went 1 for 2 at the plate with a RBI.

The MHS Blue Devils
The Blue Devils traveled to Columbus on Monday to play the Hardaway Hawks but results from the game were not available at press time.
On Friday, Mar. 21, the team will travel to Trion for another region game and play at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Mar. 25, the team will host the Mt. Zion Eagles in another region game at 4:30 p.m.
