Eighteen donate hair for Beautiful Lengths
Eighteen people sat in barber chairs awaiting the tale-tale sound of the scissors that would cut eight or more inches off of their long locks in order to donate the hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths.
“I don’t want anyone to feel like she didn’t fit in,” explained Northside High School literature teacher Adrian Hobbs.
Hobbs and her daughter, Alyssa, who had already cut her hair to donate, said they chose to do this because of the family history of breast cancer.
Sara Landreth, a ninth grader, also said she was donating her hair because of family.
The focus of a brief speech given by teacher Katherine Branch, who donated her hair last year, was that hair is a renewable resource.
“If I can give, what to me, is a renewable resource,” Hobbs said. “I’m more than willing to donate.”
Those who donated their hair include: Macey Abraham, Shayla Aguila, Polly baker, Tiffany Ka Ling Chan, Isabelle Dollar, Adrian Hobbs, Alyssa Hobbs, Darcy Hancock, Erica “Taylor” Holland, San Alice Kang, Andrea Lopez Sosa, Sara Landreth, Erica Nelson, Stephen Nelson, Brandy Purvis, Tina Rodriguez, Olivia Rodriguez and Tracy Smith.
The Awaken Aveda salon performed the haircuts at Northside High School Monday.
