WR fire ends in total loss
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14, a 911 call was made regarding a burning structure just south of 801 Wellborn Road in Warner Robins.
According to Chief Chris Stoner with the Houston County Fire Department, the structure was fully in flames before they arrived. Both the Houston County Fire Department and the Warner Robins Fire Department were on scene.
“The initial call came into 911 that [the fire] was fully involved,” Stoner said. “There was a lot of debris and things on the property — a lot of vehicles and storage sheds.”
Stoner told The Journal that the fire began at the home, and then spread to the other items and structures on the property.
Upon arriving on scene, fire fighters found a structure fully engulfed in flame, and went immediately into action. Although the two fire departments were able to extinguish the fire within 30-45 minutes of arriving, the fire ended in a total loss of the home.
Additionally, several online sources mentioned concerns of explosions. Stoner confirmed that the structure itself did not explode, but he was able to provide an explanation.
“They did find a lot of propane, small propane cylinders in stuff around the house,” Stoner said. “A lot of times when we have fire like that people will hear or see explosions, and most of the time that’s aerosol cans or small propane cylinders that will pop off during the fire. At this point there is no indication that the home actually exploded.”
According to Stoner, the homeowner was not inside the residence at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. At this time, investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
