Third annual Community Baby Shower to help expectant mothers this Saturday
The Community Baby Shower will be on Saturday, April 11 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Curtis Event Center in Warner Robins.

WARNER ROBINS — Three years ago, a local mother saw a need in her community, inspiring her to create an event to fill the gap.
The Community Baby Shower is an event dedicated to helping expecting mothers by providing them with necessities. Leading up to the event, people are encouraged to donate diapers, strollers, wipes, pacifiers, and other items needed by both babies and mothers during their first few months.
Organizer Daniella Edmund has noticed the event has grown since she started it in 2023. When Edmund was pregnant, she realized there was a need among pregnant women. She said it does not matter if the mother is homeless, a teenager, or an immigrant: they need help.
During this time, Edmund also started a non-profit organization called Daniella’s House of Hope. The organization is dedicated to helping mothers in need by providing necessities and other resources, such as housing and food.
“That’s the reason why I started Daniella’s House of Hope and [with that] came the community baby shower…I’m so happy that it’s been coming along so beautifully, and the community helping also,” she said.
The organization strives to provide compassionate care that empowers mothers, regardless of their background. Edmund said she hopes to give them the tools they need to have a prosperous and happy future.
Edmund shared that one of the growing factors is the number of women she has helped. Every year, she does her best to hit a target number, but the number keeps increasing. This year, she said her target is to help at least 60 women.
She shared that she looks forward to seeing how many attendees she will have this year. Edmund said she still needs donations and that anything will help. Right now, she most needs diapers and wipes.
Edmund has also noticed returning donors, which she is grateful for. She shared that she has received donations from fraternities, other local nonprofit organizations and people in the community.

Putting together the event has been a roller coaster for Edmund, but she has fun throughout the ride. She shared that she enjoys meeting new people and receiving positive reactions.
“Pregnant ladies need help and a lot of them don’t know what resources are out here for them,” she said.
These resources range from free yoga classes to free parenting classes at Emory Hospital – Warner Robins, Edmund mentioned. She believes these services are critical for mothers.
“When you’re pregnant, you need the support. You need a team. Having another mom that’s going through the same thing or even went through the same thing be there for you is an amazing thing,” she said.
In her organization, she started a private Facebook group so members can ask questions and, overall, help each other. She hopes this will also be a way to spread knowledge and create a support system.
“That’s the reason that I did it: to give the knowledge. I’m the type of person [that says] ‘let’s teach each other something.’ Being a mother is the most beautiful thing on this earth but it’s very hard too. If you have somebody that could teach you, help you and build for you and your child, it’s an amazing thing. That’s why we’re here,” she said.
Edmund said that wherever the mother is, she wants to be there for them and be a resource. She shared that when she needed help, she had a helping hand, but she knows this is not the case for many women.
“We need somebody who has a loving and giving heart. We need somebody who understands, who’s been there, done that and can help get you through what you need to go through,” she said.
The Community Baby Shower will take place Saturday, April 11, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Curtis Event Center, located at 2050 Watson Boulevard.
Edmund encourages anyone in need to contact her at (478) 336-0050. To keep up with Daniella’s House of Hope, visit their Facebook page.
