Watson Blvd. CVS robbed; suspect still at-large

Officers with the Warner Robins Police Department (WRPD) were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy at 5900 Watson Blvd. at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to a robbery, according to WRPD Chief John Wagner.

“What we know is there was a male that was inside the store that was shopping, and he was probably in there for about 30 minutes or so,” Wagner said. “He hung around the front of the store and would make conversation with the cashier.”

The suspect would leave that area and act like he was receiving a phone call when other customers would come up to the counter for service.

“The employee said that he was suspicious, and actually, they thought he was going to end up shoplifting,” Wagner said.

At around 4:30 p.m. the suspect approached the cashier with his phone showing the message: “Don’t say anything. I have a gun. Just give me the money.”

The cashier proceeded to bag up some money, and the suspect walked out, entered a vehicle and headed northbound on US 41 into Centerville. The suspect also ended up stealing a camera along with the money, Wagner stated.

“Once he ran off, they [witnesses] thought they had saw him get into a white, newer-model Honda,” Wagner said. He said he believed the vehicle was an Accord model.

Following the robbery and suspect’s fleeing, a CVS employee chased after the suspect in their own vehicle.

“After the robbery occurred, apparently a store employee ran out after this person, and got in his car and apparently drove up US 41,” Wagner said.

At some point during the pursuit, the employee shot a firearm once into the air as they rode “well up the road on [US] 41” into Centerville.

Wagner said no one was hurt during the incident, and WRPD is collaborating with other agencies in the area regarding recent, similar robberies.
