Sun shines on Georgia Horseshoe Pitchers Association in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga — It was a beautiful day for pitching on Saturday, May 13th, especially if you were Marcus Waters and James Rozier.

The pair, Waters from the Cordele club and Rozier from the Perry club, won the doubles tournament with 33 ringers and a ringer percentage of 30% in the championship game.

To win the chip, they had to get through Ray Mitchell and Willie Hunter who went undefeated in Class B to advance to the final stage.

Mitchell and Hunter posted a 5-0 record, 149 ringers, and the highest ringer percentage of anyone in the tournament at 34%.

Waters and Rozier went 4-1 in Class A, and put up 145 ringers and a 25% ringer percentage.

Overall there were 12 teams that participated — six in each class.

The GHPA state doubles tournament will be this Saturday June 3rd at Turner Park in Cordele, Georgia, with a sign-in time of 9:30.
