Softball State playoffs update: HoCo, Westfield advance, Perry needs a game three, Northside done for the year
Extra innings, road wins and home field advantage have three county softball program remaining in the hunt for a GISA, AAAA and AAAAAA state tiles after this past Tuesday and Wednesday night. Here’s how everything is shaping out thus far.
Houston County take two on their way to Elite 8
The Lady Bears swept their second round series at Effingham County on Wednesday to advance to the 6A Elite 8. Prior to this series the Lady Bears swept the Lovejoy High School Lady Wildcats at home.
Northside’s season ends on the road
The Lady Eagles were swept on Wednesday afternoon at Greenbrier High School, 3-1 and 10-0.
Perry needs to play three, see you on Thursday
The Lady Panthers got off to a strong start in their series at Eastside High School on Wednesday, winning game one 2-1 in eight innings. The Lady Eagles would win game two 5-2 to force a Thursday afternoon game winner-take-all game three.
Westfield is back again
Westfield will return to the GISA Sweet 16 after sweeping the Heritage School 12-0 and 14-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Hornets will host Trinity Christian School-Dublin on Saturday with game one scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and game two for two hours afterwards. If necessary, game three is scheduled for 3 p.m.
