The Lady Bears were the only public school to make it to Columbus this year, and they made their exit from this year’s playoffs with a 5-3 loss to Seckinger on Thursday.

Clair McArthur tried her best as she threw 118 pitches through seven innings; She dished out eight strikeouts but also gave up eight walks but only three hits and four earned runs.

Seckinger did most of their damage in the third inning where they scored four runs off of a grand slam. The Lady Bears tried to claw back with a run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh, but the comeback attempt came too late.

To open their trip to the South Commons Complex on Wednesday Houston County faced Lassiter, one of the best softball programs in the state, and fell 11-0.

Four errors didn’t help as the Lady Trojans scored seven of their 11 runs in the first three innings, and capped their efforts with a four-run fifth inning that ended the game.

The Lady Bears finished the 2024 season with a 23-11 overall record, an 11-4 region record and an Elite 8 appearance.
