Memorial Services for Rose Mae Foley Smith will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will be held after the service In the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Christopher’s Episcopal Church Memorial and operating funds.

Rose Mae left this life on January 7, 2018, to join her Lord and loving family members already in her new life. Rose Mae was born in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Edward Phillip Foley and Ann Rebecca Morrison Foley. Rose Mae attended Murphy High School in Mobile, graduating with the class of 1951. She held members of this experience in close and loving regard all of her life. She and Richard met and married as members of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Mobile and continued as active Sunday School teachers, Baptized Christians and laymen until their move in 1967 with their three young sons to welcoming Perry, Georgia. All enjoyed active discipleship in the Christian faith at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. Rose Mae wants everyone to remember her as an active member of her church and her community, holding many designations in her parish and public life. She especially valued her enrollment as a Daughters of the King at St. Christopher’s, a Sunday School Teacher and former Sunday School Superintendent and as a member of the Wednesday Afternoon Book Club, as well as her 25 years teaching French and English at Perry High School. Rose Mae enjoyed theater and was a Founder of Perry Players where she directed and acted in plays. She also held roles in plays at Warner Robins Little Theater and reviewed written plays for the Macon Telegraph. She was a leader in the organizations in which she was involved having been President of Newcomer’s Club and holding several offices in the Sorosis Club, the ladies’ service club for her age group in Perry. Rose Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Richard Inge Smith, who died in 2007; her brother, Paul Edward Foley and wife, Voncile; her sister, Grace Elizabeth Brown and husband, Johnny; her brother-in-law, Joe Smith; and many waiting friends from her childhood and adult life.

Rose Mae was blessed with a loving, caring family all of her life. She will live on in the many memories of her children, Richard Inge Smith, Jr., and his wife, Martha Broxton; Charles Whittaker Smith, and his wife, Miriam Huffman; and Kevin Stuart Smith, her son who moved home to take care of her in 2013; and her grandchildren, Zachery and Benjamin Smith, who brought great joy to her life.
