The Perry Hospital celebrated a new addition to their

facility on Thursday. Over 30 local and state dignitaries gathered to cut the

ribbon on the newly constructed area.

The new nine bed wing makes all 45 rooms at the hospital

private and provides space for a doctors lounge, something that the facility

has never been able to offer.

“We have had semi-private rooms since 1969, and we are so

happy to now have all private rooms which protect patients from spreading

infection, gives them more privacy and provides a more quiet environment for

them to rest and recover,” said David Campbell.

Houston Healthcare’s chief executive officer Cary Martin

said, “This addition is tangible evidence that the hospital board is committed

to meeting the needs the South end of the county.”

Martin noted the layout of the new wing was designed so that

in the future if the need arises to expand farther it will be simple to add on.

What began as one community hospital has evolved over the

past 50 years into a healthcare system consisting of seven separate entities

serving over 300,000 people every year.

Carey attributes the hospitals growth and expansion over the

years to the people of Houston County.

Perry Hospital currently employees 236 people with 35

physicians on staff.
