Mother, son injured in rollover crash in Perry
A mother and her son were injured when their truck rolled over off Keith Drive in Perry just before 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, according to Trooper Andrew Frizzell of the Georgia State Patrol.
“She was heading north on Houston Lake [Road], and she cut right onto Keith Drive — she said to avoid a vehicle in front of her because her brakes stopped working,” Frizzell said. “She cut onto Keith Drive because there was no traffic there, and she just took it too fast and ended up rolling herself over.”
The names of the accident victims were not released, but as a result of the incident, the mother ended up with lacerations on her forehead, while the son had a couple of cuts on his fingers, according to Frizzell.
Perry Fire and Emergency Services Chief Lee Parker said that his department personnel treated the passengers’ lacerations, and they were sent to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
“Single car accident — they lost control somehow and went off the road,” Parker said. “We treated two patients, and they were both transported to the hospital.”
A dispatcher with the Perry Police Department said the department’s personnel helped control and direct traffic following the crash, while Georgia State Patrol was in charge of the investigation and documentation of the incident.
“We help and assist with traffic control, but any state route or anything like that — it’s always Georgia State Patrol,” the dispatcher said.
There were no updates provided on the condition of those who were transported for treatment, and there were no mentions of any charges being filed in the incident.
