Man points gun at officers, arrested

Captain Jon Holland of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday that a domestic incident took place on Monday that resulted in the arrest of a man brandishing a shotgun. The incident happened at 209 Addison Lane in Perry.

According to Holland, HCSO’s patrol division responded to a call at approximately 7:30 p.m. in regard to a domestic situation. When officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with the arrested in the front yard of the residence. The subject, at that time, pointed his firearm in the direction of the deputies, causing them to take cover. Upon verbal commands from the law officers, the man put his gun down and was taken into custody without further incident.

The arrested was identified as 31-year-old Duwayne Gabele Pierce of Perry. Although no shots were fired at the officers, deputies discovered that at least one round was fired by Pierce inside the home, in which there was another occupant at the time. The female victim was unharmed. Pierce was charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault, criminal trespass, obstructing officer and reckless conduct.

Pierce is currently being held without bond at the Houston County Detention Center.
