Friday Night Football Roundup — Week 6
Recap Week 6 football with the weekly Friday Night Football Roundup.
Non-region play is officially over for all GHSA schools and now they’ll jockey for playoff positioning against some familiar opponents in the coming weeks.
Recap Week 6 high school football with the weekly Friday Night Football Roundup:
Houston County

Houston County is officially the last team to get their first bye week in. Last week they beat Tift County 57-14 to enter region play undefeated for the third time in four years under head coach Jeremy Edwards.
Next up they’ll take on Veterans as the home team on Freedom Field on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. to get region play going.
Northside

Northside, despite falling to 0-5, held a potent Peach County offense to a mere 19 points in their 19-6 loss on Friday.
The Trojans have scored at least 30 points in three of their contests this season and more than 50 once. The defense continues to impress for the Eagles, but the young offense is still trying to find its footing.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Northside, who has a home game against Coffee on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. for their first region game.
Perry

The Panthers (2-3) started their four-game road trip with a contest against a tough East Coweta team whose (then) 0-4 record did not represent who they are.
Perry went blow for blow with the Indians for the first half and trailed 28-24 at the break. However, East Coweta turned it on in the second half and outscored the Panthers 20-7 in the final two quarters.
Perry has a chance to regroup in their first two weeks of region play against New Hampstead (Sept. 26) and Wayne County (Oct. 10), who have a combined 1-9 record.
Veterans

Veterans (2-3) led Warner Robins three times and threatened to beat them for the first time in series history, but they ultimately fell in their final non-region game.
David Drake made a 45-yard field goal to put the Warhawks ahead 17-15 with seven minutes to play, but the Demons burned the clock, scored a touchdown and put an exclamation point on their comeback win with a 99-yard pick six from Jamarcus Allen as time expired.
Next up Veterans will play Houston County as the visitors at Freedom Field on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Warner Robins

Three turnovers and penalties threatened to doom Warner Robins (3-2) to their first loss to Veterans in series history, but a five-minute, 53-yard drive put them ahead with 1:33 to play.
Jamarcus Allen, who made countless plays in the secondary, scored on a 99-yard pick six as time expired to put an exclamation point on the Demons’ comeback win.
Warner Robins’ three-game road trip continues on Friday, Sept. 26 at Wayne County for their region opener at 7:30 p.m.
Westfield

Westfield (3-2) made a statement with their 33-22 win over GIAA 4A runner-up First Presbyterian Day on Friday, just a week after suffering a heartbreaking last-second defeat to Tiftarea Academy.
It was the Hornets’ first win against FPD since 2009 (the game was added back to the schedule in 2024) and it evened up the all time series at 20 a piece.
Westfield has one more non-region game with a road test at 2-3 Pinewood Christian on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
