Former WR Demonettes and CGTC guard Victoria Brown chooses Fort Valley State U., Former Perry Lady Panther Mallard is headed to Georgia College

The signing period, underway for the past few weeks, just a little bit more local as former Warner Robins Demonettes standout and Central Georgia Tech guard Victoria Brown signed a letter-of-intent to play her final two years of college basketball at nearby Fort Valley State University.

Brown comes to the Wildcats program having averaged a career high 10.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Central Georgia Tech Lady Titans. As a freshman she averaged 6.7 points per game and started eight of 29 games. This past season Brown started a career high 29 of 31 games for Lady Titans head coach Antonio Harris. She scored a season high 23 points twice this season; Jan. 26 in a loss to Georgia Highlands and Feb. 20 on the road in a victory at Southern Crescent Technical College.

The Wildcats under current head coach and former All-SEC and WNBA player Le’Coe Willingham were 6-20 last season with five of those wins coming in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play. Fort Valley State was 6-5 at home this season.

Brown joins former Peach County High School standout Alexia Green as the only two middle Georgia players on the roster.

Locals hoopsters committing to area colleges

Former Perry Lady Panther La’Shandria Mallard has committed to Georgia College. Mallard played at Lawson State Community College (AL) the past two years. “It feels really good and I am more than satisfied with my decision,” said Mallard on Tuesday afternoon. “I’ve been away from home for two years and I think it’s time to come back and get some real support.”

Warner Robins senior Jacobi Coleman committed to Fort Valley State University last month.

Houston County seniors Austin Sloan and Xavier Duncan are headed to Georgia College and East Georgia State College, respectively.
