Former Warner Robins head coach and AD Mike Chastain will be next in line at Jones County
Warner Robins High School head football coach and athletic director Mike Chastain was rumored to be next in line to take over the football program at Jones County High School and the rumors are true. Chastain will take over the Greyhounds football program after three seasons at Warner Robins.
Former Jones County head football coach Justin Rogers accepted the head coaching opportunity at Colquitt County High School earlier this week following the firing of former head coach Rush Propst for “personal issues.” Rogers official start date was Tuesday according to local news reports.
Chastain led the Demons to a pair of 5A state title games the past two season, losing both (to Rome at McConnell-Talbert Stadium in 2017 and to Bainbridge at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2018).
Along with the winning has come a rash in Division I recruitment for Demons players, including offensive lineman Chris Georgia (Murray State), tight end Tyler Fromm (Auburn), quarterback Dylan Fromm (Mercer) and rising senior receiver Marcayl Jones and rising junior linebacker Ahmad Walker, who are both currently being recruited by several top programs, to name a few. A lot of that success has to do with the changes to the program Chastain made during his three seasons at the helm.
A Wednesday morning phone call to Chastain was not returned.
