Driver loses control in multi-vehicle accident
Gordon Young and Stephanie Clark were heading back to Florida from Kentucky on I-75 on Thursday afternoon, when their luck was tested. According to a brief interview with Young and Clark, a tractor-trailer was merging into the far lane to move over for an upcoming accident. Not seeing the Lexus containing Young and Clark, the large vehicle moved over too quickly, causing Young to hit the back left tires. Young reported that he lost control as his vehicle spun around, striking another vehicle. He further explained that the tractor-trailer then pushed the Lexus even more and Young’s vehicle pushed the other SUV to the northbound side of the median through the steel guardrails.
Stephanie Clark was shaken up by the crash, but counted her blessings to be alive and that all parties involved were able to walk away. “A young girl in the other vehicle, we were told, had some minor scratches. I’ve got some bruising,” she said as she pointed to her leg. She then went on to explain, “I was laid back in the seat getting ready to take a nap. We’re driving from Kentucky on our way to Florida. And so I didn’t see, I just felt the first impact and then everything else was a blur. We’ve been here maybe 20 minutes. There was a trooper like right behind us practically. We were blessed today that nothing more serious happened.”
Young mentioned how lucky he was to have the Lexus and that everything happened as it did. He pointed out the steel guardrail that was curled in the air right next to the passenger’s side. “That steel is no joke. If it was another foot closer in the car, it would have stabbed her,” he mused.
An official accident report had not been made available as of press time Friday afternoon.
