Dr. Joseph and Marietta Lomboy South Houston Internal Medicine LLC
Joseph and Marietta Lomboy were both born and raised in the Philippines. Both knew at an early age that they wanted to help people, so they pursued their careers in the medical field. After completing his training in New York, Joseph moved to Perry in 2000, and in 2003, he married Marietta.
“We both worked in different practices, and then made the decision to start our own clinic in 2006,” said Joseph. “Originally we started out down the road, and then built the facility we’re in today in September of 2006.”
The Lomboys’ practice, South Houston internal Medicine LLC, treats those who have arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, minor surgeries, prevention care and much more. Both Joseph and Marietta said they are grateful to be in America and living the American dream.
“We are blessed to be able to do what we do,” said Joseph. “So, we believe in giving back to the community and enriching the lives of others. We offer student mentoring programs, free clinics, we participate in the Toys for Tots drive and we offer scholarships for local schools.”
“It’s very important to us to give back,” said Marietta. “We not only are involved with our local community here, but we help back at home in the Philippines. In 2012, extreme poverty in the Philippines was estimated at 19.2 percent of the population or about 18.4 million people, based on the international poverty line of $1.25 per day. Each year, we help the children get back into school, donate school supplies and we also started the Flip-Flop project. The Flip-Flop project is simply where we collect flip-flops because the children walk around barefooted.”
Lee Ann Cladin became a patient in March of 2014 and expressed her deepest heartfelt appreciation for the care that the Lomboys provided her.
“After being treated by the same doctor for 35 years, I was forced to find a new doctor due to insurance changes,” said Cladin. “I was also in the middle of being treated for two recent strokes and I was experiencing physical and mental trauma unlike ever before. I felt like having to find a new doctor was not fair to me or to the doctor during this season of my life. But I knew without question, God led me to seek them. They rescued me during some of the darkest hours I have ever experienced. I will never forget what they have done to help me recover and what they continue to do to help me function normally again. What a difference they have made in my life.”
The Lomboys were humbled by Cladin’s kind words.
“Again we are so blessed,” said Joseph. “Words like Lee Ann’s encourage us and we strive to continue to give our patients the very best care.”
This September marked the Lomboys’ 10th anniversary of their practice. To celebrate, they plan to host a reception to thank all of their patients.
“We will host the reception on Dec. 1 as a small token of appreciation,” said Marietta. “We invited all of our patients and their families to help us celebrate.”
