Demons junior record-setting receiver Jones receives Big 10 offer

After what could only be described as a dream season, Warner Robins junior receiver Marcayl Jones’ year just keeps getting better. The 5-10 single-season state record holder for receiving yards was recently offered a scholarship by Rutgers University. The Big 10 is one of the best college football conferences in the country but aside from that, Rutgers is one of the finest universities in the world. “It is a great feeling knowing a big school believes in my abilities,” said Jones who caught more than 40 passes for more than 2,000 yards (the first 2,000 yard season in state history) during his junior campaign.

Asked if this level of an offer will better motivate him for the season to come Jones said, “It’s great motivation to realize that I don’t have to pay for college but my senior season is strictly business. I’m going to do everything for my team with the hopes of winning it all before I graduate.”

Jones has received offers from Mercer University (where former Demons quarterback Dylan Fromm will be headed as a freshman), Tennessee Tech, William and Mary, Toledo, Tennessee Chattanooga and Georgia Southern. Last Thursday Jones was awarded the Little Peach Award by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta.
