In the wee hours of the morning of Wednesday, December 29, a speeding vehicle in the Houston Lake Blvd. and Oldstone Crossing area, caught the attention of Centerville Police, but the stop that followed resulted in much more than a moving violation.

“Officers checked the car at 53 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone,” Centerville Police Chief Cedric Duncan told Houston Home Journal.

Georgia resident, 22-year-old Robby Christopher Brandon, was driving the vehicle, described as a grey 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe.

“He had a Statesboro driver’s license, but as we understand it, he was staying in Byron,” Duncan informed.

Once the attending officers made contact with Brandon, they reported the strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. At this point, the officers immediately requested a K-9 officer to meet them at the location.

“The odor gave them probable cause to do a search,” said Duncan, “and once they got him out and started searching the vehicle, they found all that stuff pictured.”

There was a large number of illegal narcotics discovered in the investigation of the car. The amount was far too large, Duncan assured, to be for personal use only.

With the help of the K-9, the search turned up two bag packs that housed a Mason jar containing marijuana and mushrooms. Marijuana was also found in loose baggies. Among other findings were THC oil, THC vape, edible THC candy, three weight scales, one .22LR Rossi Rifle, a machete and 11 open containers of alcoholic beverages.

Subsequently, Brandon was placed under arrest and transported to the Houston County Jail. The multiple charges he faces include distribution of marijuana, heroin, fentanyl, Schedule I drugs (mushrooms), possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects, possession of open containers and speeding.

Of Brandon’s past, Chief Duncan said, “He had some prior incidents, but they were dismissed.” Of his future, Duncan added, “But these won’t be.”
