Centerville driver flees on foot

A pursuit by Centerville police on Wednesday ended with the driver crashing into a tree, and then fleeing the scene on foot.

Centerville Police Chief Chuck Hadden told Houston Home Journal that the chase was not a high speed one as the pictures might lead the public to assume.

“The guy just took off,” Hadden said. “My officer was just driving normal. They both turned off of Collins onto Houston Lake, and the guy suddenly took off speeding and tried to turn on Giles but didn’t make the curve.”

When the driver, who was in a red colored pickup truck, lost control of his vehicle, the truck made contact with a nearby small tree, sending it tumbling to the ground. The driver then got out of the truck and ran to elude police. Hadden said that there was a female passenger in the truck who remained there after her driver ran.

Despite the vehicle hitting the tree, the female passenger did not incur any injuries, according to Chief Hadden. To his knowledge, neither did the male driver, but police could not be certain of that since the man escaped the scene.

“We have his information though, and we’ll be taking warrants on him,” Hadden assured.

No charges were brought against the female passenger, and Chief Hadden reported that she was released at the scene.
