Bouncing into a new chapter

My wife and I have always said that life’s best moments come when you step outside your routine.

My wife and I have always said that life’s best moments come when you step outside your routine. Let me tell you about the new chapter: a family business update.

Opening Day at Sky Zone Warner Robins was Saturday, March 7, 2026. We spent the entire afternoon at the brand-new trampoline park in Warner Robins, located at 815 Russell Parkway, just behind Sonny’s BBQ. What a lively, joyful place!

The energy was electric from the moment we walked in: wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, SkySlam basketball hoops, ninja warrior courses, dodge ball arenas, the interactive iWall, and more attractions than you can shake a stick at. Music pumped, kids soared, and laughter bounced off every surface.

We didn’t jump into the high-flying action ourselves—our days of flips are mostly behind us—but we soaked it all up as happy spectators. We strolled the perimeter, cheered from the sidelines, and watched generations light up. Toddlers bounced gently in safe zones, teens battled in dodge ball, and even some adults (including a few who looked our age) rediscovered their inner kid with surprising agility.

It was a reminder that movement—active, whole-body play—does wonders for the spirit, getting everyone away from TV screens and smart phones into real, safe fun that exercises muscles, not just thumbs and eyeballs.

What made the day even more special was the personal connection. For the past 18 years, our kids have poured their hearts and souls into building their Visiting Angels business from Forsyth all the way south to the Tifton/Moultrie area, providing compassionate in-home care for seniors so folks can stay in their own homes instead of moving to nursing homes.

Year after year, they’ve earned “Best of the Best” honors for their dedication to providing compassionate, quality care. It’s been a mission of love—helping seniors live with dignity, independence, and smiles.

Recently, though, our kids felt called to a new challenge: a complete 180-degree shift. Instead of caring just for seniors, they’re now helping parents care for their kids—especially single parents who might not have the space, time, or energy to host memorable birthdays at home.

Sky Zone specializes in exactly that: epic birthday parties in six different private party rooms, each with a dedicated host who serves delicious (and often healthier) food, handles all the setup, including care for your own birthday cake and cleans up every mess afterward… with a smile!

While the kids race off in all directions for non-stop fun on the attractions, parents get to relax and enjoy the day without the usual chaos. This isn’t about abandoning our senior roots—far from it. Our kids remain just as committed as ever to Visiting Angels, with the most capable staff and caregivers ready to provide 24/7 care for you or your loved ones.

They’re simply expanding their palette of smiles: from seniors to toddlers, kids, moms, and dads too. And here’s a thoughtful touch for families—there’s even a quiet room available for moms of children on the autism spectrum (or anyone needing a sensory break) to chill in a calm, restful space away from all the romping fun.

By the time we left Sky Zone that afternoon, our cheeks ached from smiling, and we felt recharged in a way only shared joy can provide. If you’re a senior who thinks these places are just for grandkids, reconsider. Go to watch, to connect with family, or simply to feel the pulse of life. Or better yet, bring the little ones for a birthday bash and see the magic yourself.

After all, staying young at heart means celebrating new adventures, whether they’re for seniors, kids, or the whole family.

Bill Milby is a graduate Automotive Engineer from LeTourneau University and The Chrysler Institute and a certified Bulldog with an MBA from UGA. After 34 years in the automotive, RV and bus industries, Bill, together with his two sons, started Visiting Angels of Middle Georgia in 2008. His sons and their wives run the business of caring for Middle Georgia Seniors in their own homes on a day-to-day basis. They are a very active and supporting family of Middle Georgia.

Shortly after starting that business, Bill approached the Editor of The Houston Home Journal with the idea of a regular column called All About Seniors to highlight issues that would be educational, entertaining and helpful to seniors in the particular life issues that affect them as a cohort in our community. The editor, who was at the time caring for a senior relative himself, immediately recognized the value of such a column and Bill has been a weekly contributor ever since.

Bill is married to the bride of his youth, Mary Beth Milby, and they recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Together they have five children and nine grandchildren.

Bill says he really appreciates his loyal AAS readers, especially when they send him feedback or ask questions about his columns. Thanks for reading All About Seniors!
