Base employee furlough delayed
From Staff Reports
Robins Air Force Base employees who have braced their
budgets for the furlough this month now have until April 5 until the furlough
notices are sent.
According to a release, the Pentagon has delayed the notices
until the pending legislation concerning the federal funding for the rest of
the fiscal year has been analyzed to see how it will affect the Department of
Defense.
“The legislation could have some impact on the overall
number of furlough days, but no decisions have been reached, especially since
the legislation hasn’t been signed into law,” Navy Cmdr. Leslie Hull-Ryde, a
Pentagon spokeswoman, said in the release. “The number of furlough days at this
point remains at 22.”
Pentagon Press Secretary George Little stated in the
release, “We believe the delay is a responsible step to take in order to
assure our civilian employees that we do not take lightly the prospect of
furloughs and the resulting decrease in employee pay,” he said.
