Sunday was Father’s Day, and it got me to thinking about my dad, who left us in 2007. Dad was a pretty good fellow, all things considered. Like all fathers, he made a few mistakes while we kids grew up, but he made sure of one thing: my brother and I grew up to be gentlemen. And my sister grew up to be a lady. That was a non-negotiable part of our childhood; learning to do the right thing even when nobody was watching was another. I have to admit I fall short on that, as we all do, but Dad did his best.
