WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Warner Robins Police Department is investigating a shooting that broke out Monday night involving a teenage victim.

According to a release by WRPD, on April 10 around 7:30 p.m. officers responded to the emergency room at Houston Healthcare — Warner Robins, responding to a male suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The 17-year-old victim was stabilized at the hospital and later transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon.

An initial investigation from speaking to witnesses revealed the victim was earlier involved in an altercation at Rocky’s, a convenience store located at 405 South Pleasant Hill Road, beginning with an argument, then escalating to a brief fight, where an unknown suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim.

All involved fled the scene, and the victim was driven to the hospital where he met with officers.

The police department is working through potential leads on a suspect, but stresses that the incident is isolated and the parties involved likely knew each other.

“It doesn’t appear to be a random act of violence, anything like that,” Sgt. Justin Clark said, “We do have suspects and leads that we’re actively following up on, and hopefully we can get some resolution pretty soon.”

The incident is currently under investigation. Anyone with more information is encouraged to contact Detective J. Nix at (478) 302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at (478) 742-2330.
