“SweeTees” 6U team headed to World Series

PERRY, Ga. — The Perry Junior League will look to bring more hardware to Central Georgia, this season. The 6 and Under “SweeTees” softball team won the Dixie Youth State tournament, over the weekend. “I cannot say enough about our parents! Everyone’s reaction to winning state was just excitement and pride for our girls. They get to have an experience that not everyone gets. They will gain experience in softball and in life from this trip,” added Manager Adam Nelson. SweeTee Coaches, Marla Kersey, Amanda Martin and Erickson Watkins believe their team will be ready for the big task.

“It really means so much to us coaches, that the girls listen so well and practice so hard, but when it comes game time, our girls are ready. They have so much fun out there competing, and at the end of the day this is a game and its about having fun,” said Nelson. Representation on the big stage is key and that wish is amongst those of their Manager. “I hope we represent our Perry community and the PJL by having great attitudes, a lot of fun, and to compete and win the right way,” added Nelson.

Members of the PJL SweeTees 6 and under team are; Brileigh Coyle, Charli Evans, Hartley Jones, Ramsey Kersey, Addilyn Martin, Kaylin Mays, Emery Nelson, Henley Oliver, Kenli Peavy, Hadleigh Watkins, Elaine West and Hadley Whiddon. After winning the Dixie Youth State tournament, the SweeTees advance to the Dixie Youth World Series, on July 29-August 1. The World Series for Dixie Youth will take place, in Cochran, at the Bleckley-Cochran Complex. “We have such great parents and fans. The PJL and our community have been behind us 100 percent. We love to see this support at such a young age and especially for a female sports, such as softball,” says the SweeTees coaching staff.

“We’re so excited for our girls and that they get to compete in the World Series for Dixie Youth. We’re looking forward to a very fun and competitive tournament. We will be ready when we get there! This is an exciting time for our young girls and athletes,” adds the SweeTee Manager.
