Warner Robins vs Northside

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The MAC Stadium is back at normal capacity this season, meaning the most notorious rivalry in all of Middle Georgia will have the house rocking this Friday.

The Warner Robins Demons and Northside Eagles will add another chapter to their rivaled story that began over five decades ago. In recent years, Warner Robins has been superior by winning the past four matchups with the last two games being lopsided shutouts.

Both teams are 2-0 on the season and both were off last week, Northside’s game against Howard was canceled due to COVID while Warner Robins was on a bye. So both teams had extended time to study each other.

Warner Robins has scored at least 48 points in each game so far. The offense can seem unstoppable at times with its effectiveness and it won’t be an easy feat for Northside to negate the Demons’ attack.

Some Demons are making their names as usual suspects. Seniors Deuce Petty and JaFredrick Perry have produced early on and will be key contributors moving forward. Petty, who plays receiver and defensive back, has 232 receiving yards, two touchdowns and an interception this season. Perry, who plays running back and safety, has 181 yards rushing with two touchdowns and has returned a punt for a touchdown as well.

On the flip side, the Eagles isn’t the same the team that was smacked by Warner Robins in 2020 and 2019. Northside’s offense is moving much smoother in head coach Chad Alligood’s second year and the Eagles’ new weapons have been impressive. Eagles senior quarterback Cameran Brown continues to showcase his talent and a good game against the Demons would be telling.

An abundance of talent will be on the field as six players from the HHJ’s Top Ten Players list will be in this game. From Warner Robins: Defensive end Victor Burley, wide receiver Daveon Walker, running back Malcolm Brown and cornerback Antwon Jackson. From Northside: wide receiver Centavious Lowe and running back Micah Thurman.

The next chapter of this classic rivalry is scheduled for this Friday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in The MAC.
