Planning commission members discuss Capital Improvement Project updates
The City of Perry held a planning commission meeting on August 9 at 6:00 pm. These meetings are open to the public unless otherwise stated. The members of the Perry Planning Commission encourage all citizens to come out and attend the gatherings to learn more about what is going on in the city.
On Monday, members discussed Capital Improvement Projects updates including Langston Road Regional Pond. The pond designs have been reviewed by Kimley-Horn Consultant. Recommendations have been sent to GWES for to complete design. The estimated time of the project’s completion is one year from the start date. AutoCAD/ GIS mapping is working on As-bultis, storm water maps and pond mapping, zone mapping and maps for Perry Fire Department. They are moving forward with water model calibrations and GIS field collection to avoid errors. EGS is now completing updates to online platform and users. Regarding Hilton Garden Inn, the city and GWES have been working on plans to extend water and sewer to the property line. The project is now complete. Another project is the Langston Road extension. The city is working with the county and Rick Saunders to design Langston Road extension. Concept designs have been submitted, and there are no changes for July. Updates on the Water Booster pump for Airport Road including sharing that they are working with GWES to increase water pressure to the Farm Subdivision. An engineering proposal has been submitted to the city. This project was added to the GEFA application list. Potential site currently owned by the Development Authority of Houston County. Another update was that of Talton Road/Mossy Creek East Perry Sewer Outfall. It was shared that the city staff is working with GWES on this project. Pyles has been awarded the first two phases of construction. Phase 1A is in progress.
Continuing with the meeting, members of the commission discussed Community Development PBEZ building parking. Rick Saunders is designing PBEZ parking area. Survey work is complete and this will be ready for bid by September. Additionally, Chinaberry/Ivey Glenn regional sewer and stormwater was a topic of discussion. City staff and GWES Consultant will be reviewing this site for sewer consolidations of pump station, regional stormwater, traffic and looping water. This has moved down on the priority list.
Updates on the intersection of Macon Road and Sunset Ave. revealed that Rick Saunders prepared this project for the city, and council has approved the project. It is now pending GDOT response. There are not changes for July. Regarding CBDG project 2021, GWES is the consulting engineer for this project. The project has been awarded to Lakay Enterprises and construction is in progress. Projects scheduled for completion in October. Main Street and Carroll Street design was also discussed. Saunders Engineering is working to design Main Street and Carroll Street. Phase one will be Main Street near Legacy Park. This project is out for bids in August. Some projects of interest are 433 Langston Road – 114 Home Subdivision. And projects in review are Interfor expansion, Cambridge Drive, and Main Street re-alignment.
Mr. Wood spoke on annexation and designation of GU and R-2A. Both were approved and chair members are still reviewing over them. Shortly after this discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
