A wreck at the intersection of Houston Lake Road and Gray Road sent two people to the hospital Wednesday, Jan. 3.

“It happened at 5:24 p.m.,” said Sgt. Robbie Roberson, commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 15 in Perry. “It looks like the driver was just following too close.”

Roberson said a Mercury Milan driven by Lawanda Perkins was stopped on Houston Lake Road when a Ford Taurus driven by Jarvis Mitchell failed to stop in time.

“They were traveling south on Houston Lake Road. Vehicle one failed to stop,” Roberson said. “He tried to steer to the right but couldn’t avoid the collision.”

Mitchell was unharmed as a result of the crash, but Perkins complained of leg pain. The passenger of the Mercury, Aniyah Perkins, complained of back, neck and leg pain, Roberson said. Both were taken to Perry Hospital for treatment.

The wreck is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
