Warner Robins High School graduate Ronnie Kent Jr. is a finalist for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Environmental Science and Natural Resources-Entrepreneurship/ Placement.

Kent is one of only four students who will compete for this award at the national FFA convention held Oct. 30 – Nov. 2 during the 86th National FFA convention & Expo in Louisville, Ky.

He became eligible for the national award after winning the Georgia FFA competition earlier this year. While attending a mock interview conducted recently by the State FFA, Kent learned that he is the first national finalist from Warner Robins High.

His FFA advisor is agricultural teacher Veronica Sanders.

In the Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management Placement proficiency, students receive practical experience to manage and/or improve the environment and natural resources.

Activities may include the areas of management of agriculture waste (excluding common compliance with EPA regulations) recycling of agriculture products, environmental cleanup, serving in the conservation corps; managing agricultural energy usage (not for building or maintaining), multiple uses of resources, land use regulations pertaining to soil, water and air quality, preservation of wetlands, shorelines, and grasslands, wildlife surveys, erosion prevention practices; public relations and education concerning pollution.

Sanders may be reached at 478-929-7877 or Veronica.Sanders@hcbe.net.
