GHP is a residential, four-week summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors.

The program offers instruction significantly different from the typical high school classroom. It is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators and leaders.

Approximately 3,000 students from across the state of Georgia were nominated to the state level competition and nearly 2,000 of them participated as semifinalists in this year’s state interview and selection process.

Finalists who accept will be invited to participate in a four-week summer program free of charge in their field of study at Valdosta State University. Enrollment is limited to 690 students.

Director of Gifted Education Jan Jacobsen said, “Our students work incredibly hard for this opportunity. We are very proud of their diligence and accomplishments, from nomination through the finalist process.”
