Spreading the Word on Good Friday
Drivers honked their horns, passengers waved and a few
people stopped their morning commute to talk to the man who was carrying the
cross on Good Friday.
Calvin Norris, who was dressed in symbolic purple robes, was
dragging a cross alongside Watson Boulevard Friday morning.
“I’m telling people about Jesus,” he said passionately,
after a curious driver in front of Moe’s on Watson stopped him to ask what was
going on. Norris then told him the story of Jesus.
Norris, who is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church,
explained that he has been walking with the cross for four years.
“Last year, it rained. So I got a little wet,” he joked, but
he explained that he continued his walk because of the message it showed the
people driving by. “It’s what you see.”
Before he continued his walk on Good Friday, he stated,
“I’ll do it until the day I die, I guess.”
