When life weighs you down, it’s always best to go fishing.

That’s one of the philosophies in “Catfish Moon,” which is presented by the Perry Players.

After two of Curley’s, played by Todd Wilson, high school friends argue about a woman, Betty, played by Kelli Jenkins, who happens to be Frog’s, played by Jim Strickland, ex-wife and Gordon’s, played by Don Boyd, girlfriend, he decides to take them fishing.

The fishing trip is an effort to show the two friends that they are still friends.

“These guys probably couldn’t catch a fish if it was in front of them at the grocery store,” explained Boyd, who also directed the show. He went on to say, “The mid-life crisis … usually ends in disaster.”

The show offers the audience members a chance to blow off some of the stress in their own lives as they watch the cast do the same.

“I think the strength of this play is the story,” said Boyd,

Dates of the play are May 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11 at 7: 30 p.m. and May 5 and 12 at 2:30 p.m. For reservations call 987-5354 or visit www.perryplayers.org.
