Perry hires public works director

The City of Perry met in a special called meeting Monday. The purpose was to discuss hiring Decius Aaron as the city’s public works director.

And in the end, that’s what the mayor and council did, voting 5-0 in favor of bringing him on board.

Aaron, who is from Macon, was most recently the collection chief for residential garbage in Atlanta. Prior to that, he was the city superintendent in Gray.

His duties will reportedly include overseeing street maintenance as well as stormwater projects. With Perry now falling under the scope of the MS4 – Municipal Stormwater Sewer System program – and a host of requirements that come with it, the council noted on several ocassions it would be a key – and busy – position.
