More than a thousand runners finish 17th annual Museum of Aviation race at RAFB

A total of 1,135 runners from Georgia and 18 other states

completed the 17th Annual Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K races at Robins Air

Force Base Saturday. These events were sponsored by Jeff Smith Automotive and

several other participating sponsors. The races, put on by the Museum of

Aviation Foundation and the Robins Pacers Running Club, started at the Museum

of Aviation and took place on courses laid out on streets inside Robins Air

Force Base.

Justin Gillette, 30, from Goshen, Ind., was the fastest male

marathon runner with a time of two hours, 32 minutes and six seconds. The

fastest female marathoner was 34-year-old Tiencia James from Snellville with a

time of three hours, 10 minutes and two seconds.

The fastest male and female runners in the Half Marathon

were 39–year-old Alan Black from Hillsboro (1:12:28) and 18-year-old Annie

Kelly from Alpharetta (1:22:50). The top runners in the 5K were 21-year-old

Jesse Prince from Perry (16:09) and 17-year-old Grace Tinkey from Macon

(18:28). The overall top active duty military runner was Robert Marshall from

Watkinsville with a time of three hours, two minutes and 14 seconds.

The top three male and female runners in each race won $250, $150 and $100

respectively. First, second and third place winners in 14 different age groups

A group from 461st Air Control Wing was the winner of the first annual Robins

Air Force Base Commanders Marathon Relay Team Trophy with a time of three

hours, three minutes and 16 seconds. Five units from the base participated with

relay teams.

Another group of runners came all the way from Atlanta to raise more than

$6,000 for Autism. They actually ran the entire distance of 126.2 miles, then

ran the Museum Marathon when they got to Warner Robins – a total of 152.4

miles. It took them more than 22 hours to make the trek from Atlanta and

another several hours on the Robins course.
