Monday night football at Perry High
When the rains finally stopped
They wanted to do it on Friday at Herb St. John Stadium, but the middle of a rainy week in Middle Georgia forced Perry High and Houston County High to play their 2013 football scrimmage game Monday. Not only did the weather postpone this game, but Warner Robins High’s planned scrimmage Thursday with Rutland High (also in Perry due to the finalization of construction at McConnell-Talbert Stadium), Northside High’s Friday scrimmage at Peach County High (rescheduled for this past Tuesday) and softball games from Perry to Veterans High. But the skies cleared somewhat early Monday evening, and it was time for first-year coaches Von Lassiter of Houston County and Erik Soliday of Perry to get a look at their players in game action. That includes Bears Romarcus Williams (22 left) trying to keep his balance and Delarion Fields (34 left) finishing off a tackle. At right, Perry linebackers Ben Murphy and Cole Lavendar get a water break after a defensive series, and K.J. Smith (below right) turned in some big plays both offensively and defensively.
