A 10-year-old boy remains in critical condition following a serious accident that occurred at around 7:24 p.m. in Warner Robins on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Jaxson Nelson of Warner Robins, was riding a bicycle and was crossing the road heading south on Sonja Drive when a 2007 Honda Accord, that was traveling westbound on the same street, struck him. The driver of the Accord was listed on the official report as 21-year-old Sophia Singleton. Information on the report show that the boy and the driver of the vehicle are neighbors that live on the same street.

The force of the contact of the car and bicycle ejected the boy from his bike and landed him in the roadway. Based on information shared by Warner Robins Police Chief John Wagner, the child was not wearing a helmet, and the impact left him with major head injuries.

“He was transported to Atrium Navicent in Macon and has since been transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite Hospital,” Wagner told Houston Home Journal. “He has had major surgery and he remains in critical condition.”

Sgt. Tim Pippio, with the Traffic Unit, has taken the lead in the investigation of this accident, and it is still underway. No charges have been filed at this time.

“We’re just praying that the little boy is going to be well,” Wagner said. “That’s what we want more than anything right now. We want that little boy to pull through this.”

A woman on Facebook by the name of Anna Heyob, who has identified herself as Nelson’s grandmother posted an update for May 3 stating, “Thanks everyone for praying for Jaxson. One hour ago he regained consciousness and is breathing well without the ventilator. Thanks again for your prayers.
