KWRB recognizes volunteers

Members of Keep Warner Robins Beautiful (KWRB) hosted the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon at the Wellston Center. Representatives of federal and city government, business, industry, and civic and social organizations were present to receive recognition for support of KWRB programs.

Mayor Chuck Shaheen was presented with a mock check in the amount of $1,907,745.87. The figure, explained Debra Jones, KWRB Executive Director, represented contributions collected in the form of donations, goods, services and volunteer hours. During the previous twelve months, 5,187 volunteers contributed more than 8,500 hours to support various programs.

Keep Warner Robins Beautiful Business Awards of Merit were presented to the following corporate and business partners: Chick-Fil-A, Flint Energies, Paulk Landscaping, Sign Ventures, Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q, Stevi B’s Pizza Buffet, Thrifty Car Rental, Wal-Mart #3750 (Booth Road), Warner Robins Supply Company and Warner Robins Wrecker & Towing Service.

Media Awards of Merit were presented to Georgia Eagle Media, Inc., Houston Home Journal newspaper, NewsCentral-WGXA TV, The Telegraph newspaper, WMAZ Channel 13 and WMGT-DT/Channel 41-NBC.

The Central Georgia Board of Realtors received the Education Partnership Award.

Miller Elementary Litter Bug Club, Mossy Creek Middle Student Council, Joey Stewart, Sean Perryman, Kyle Vanderplas and Warner Robins Pilot Club were recognized with certificates of appreciation for volunteer involvement during the year

KWRB Environmental Partnership Awards were presented to the Biology Club of Georgia Military College, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Diversified Carriers, Inc., Georgia Military College Biology Club, Happy Hour Service Center, Houston County Board of Commissioners, New Hope International, Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce and Robins AFB Environmental Management Branch.

The Home of the Year Award was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Dillard. El Tapatio Restaurant & Cantina received the Business of the Year Award. Jack Steed was selected by fellow KWRB members as the Commissioner of the Year.

Jack Steed also accepted the Chairman’s Award for and relinquished the gavel to incoming chairman Cheryl Taylor.

David Carr and Bill Craig were introduced as First and Second Vice Chairmen, respectively.
