Kids and Pros camp now tuition-free for 250

Due to the outpouring of the community’s financial support, Kids and Pros is offering the fourth annual Kids & Pros Camp, presented by Clean Control Corporation, tuition-free to all attendees, according to founder Buddy Curry.

There are only 250 spots and many of those are already filled.

Walk-up registration will be accepted for Warner Robins Kids and Pros Camp June 3-6 at Tanner Park.

“250 children will be able to attend free,” said Curry “because the community provided all the financial support.” “We will offer a free camp for the first 250 kids, so campers are encouraged register online at www.kidsandpros.com, hit the Google Checkout button and then close your browser (do not enter any credit card info) or arrive before 6 p.m. on Monday, June 3, to register,” said Curry.

“We’re building on a great tradition of football instruction. And because of the great financial support from the community, we can serve a full camp of attendees.”

Local fundraising efforts allowed Kids & Pros to “scholarship” all of the young attendees.

“More than 200 young football players from the ages of 7-13 joined us for the Kids & Pros football camp last summer,” according to Curry. “And for the first time, we’ll be teaching the new tenets of ‘Heads Up Football’ to make the game even safer for players.”

Heads Up Football is the new standard for player safety, according to USA Football www.usafootball.com. After being trained by USA Football earlier this year, Curry and other Master Trainers are teaching the Heads Up Football program to youth league leaders across the country.

The program encompasses teaching USA Football’s Heads Up Tackling techniques, educating leagues on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concussion recognition and response protocols and instructing on proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting.

“Heads Up Football is a comprehensive approach to a better and safer game,” said Curry. “Building on three prior successful summers, we are coming back to Warner Robins to teach kids how to play safely.

“Parents will also receive instruction on the new approach, including a special feature session on Tuesday evening, June 4.”

This Parent Informational Session involving the Atlanta Falcons organization will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Tanner Park. Former Atlanta Falcon star Ray Buchanan will introduce the Heads Up Program to the parents and Buddy Curry will spend 30 minutes describing the program.

During the camp, Curry, a former Atlanta Falcon, and other former NFL players will be joined by many more local coaches to give the camp a 1:10 coach-to-player ratio. Coaches will provide hands-on teaching of fundamental skills; as well as reinforcing character values that can be learned from the game of football. The coaches will be conducting a Heads Up Tackling circuit at the beginning of each evening.

Curry refers to the character speeches each night as “life lessons.”

“Our attendees get the best in football instruction, but we believe the life lessons impact them on a much deeper basis,” said Curry. “Our strongest positive feedback came from parents who stayed around and heard us present these lessons to their kids. What we offer goes far beyond the basic fundamentals of the game of football.

“The Warner Robins business community has been great to us. We have been blessed with many businesses who said they wanted to provide financial support for kids who may need tuition assistance to attend. We’re still looking for local groups or businesses who would like to provide tuition assistance to less fortunate kids who may not be able to afford the camp.

“Our philosophy at Kids & Pros is bringing communities together through a series of week-long football experiences. We intend to develop character and skills through athletics.”
